Hands-On In-The-Field Trade Training

At the C. Hughes School of Change in Indianapolis, IN, we are reviving the lost art of vocational training. As a nonprofit nontraditional trade school, we believe in the power of hands-on learning and direct experience. Our focus is on architecting hope, constructing inspiration, and building possibilities. Unlike traditional vocational schools, 100% of our programs take place in the field, eliminating the need for classroom learning. Our comprehensive programs range from 1 to 6 months in length and focus on honing useful skills that are highly sought-after in the construction industry. At C. Hughes School of Change, we are dedicated to helping individuals facing challenges in finding employment—whether they lack skills, are starting anew after incarceration, or struggle with traditional learning setups. We lay the foundation for a brighter future, guiding individuals toward fulfilling careers in construction from the ground up.

The C. Hughes School of Change Story
Our non-profit trade school was started by a husband and wife team, who own a local construction company and have been in the industry for many years. They are passionate about teaching, and committed to providing accessible high-quality education to empower young adults and equip them with skills for success.

Meet Our Founder, Central Hughes

Central Hughes

Central G. Hughes Sr. is the founder of Strong Hold LLC, co-owner of LC Hughes Construction, and co-founder of C Hughes School of Change.

Early in life, Central Hughes recognized his entrepreneurial spirit. It would take shape in a multitude of experiences and opportunities. Being raised in the community of Rowney Terrace Apartments rounded a well-respected, family-oriented individual.

Prior to receiving his recent achievements, Central accomplished many successful business endeavors. Versus settling into his environment, Central successfully bought his first home at the age of 16 years old. Thereupon, he ventured into the business of trucking. In the year he spent driving for P.A.M. Transportation Services, Inc., he developed a thirst for knowledge in construction.

Moving with that drive, he began investing in rehabilitating homes and commercial properties. For about six years, Central devoted his time in construction to educate individuals on minor building skills, instilling learning tools in individuals less fortunate of receiving a chance, whereby gain a first or second chance. Investing in properties was not always rewarding, but Central never let that deter him from the end goal.

Having to restart projects or cancel them altogether, he did not let that stop him. Instead of giving up, he put his best foot forward learning from mistakes, gaining new knowledge, and self-motivating. Thereafter, Central took up a course to gain knowledge on Heavy Equipment. Also, he began the start-up of Exotic Customs, a well-known rim shop thriving from the year 2000 to 2003. Around 2002, Central teamed up with Rockford Construction to build Family Videos nationwide.

Alongside his wife, Latasha Hughes, business owner, Central spends his spare time giving back to the community. Central’s goals and aspirations are to selflessly, pass on his knowledge to those who are willing to acquire knowledge of business, construction, and self-initiation.

To meet a person is to know a person. This biography is simply the overlay of Central G. Hughes, Sr., an accomplished construction executive with expertise in business development, successful multi-disciplinary team management, and project delivery. His exceptional ability to construct and facilitate cohesive teams compounds an impeccable proprietor.

Meet Our Co-Founder, Latasha Hughes

Latasha Hughes

Latasha Hughes is a successful, self-made business owner. Credit is due to her parents, who laid the platform she built upon to shape her successes. Growing up, she spent her summers at the family business. Gaining knowledge and inspiration to one day become a business owner herself.

Once she had graduated high school, Latasha enrolled at Indiana Wesleyan University, where she received an associate and bachelor’s degree in business. Upon graduating, her determination to fulfill her dreams led to her decision to leave her long-time career at Carrier.

Latasha’s passion for becoming a business owner sent her on an entrepreneurial venture. The start-up of a successful lingerie shop gave her a drive to onset a janitorial service, Lovable Touch LLC, which continues to thrive. With the knowledge she acquired, Latasha’s triumphs gave her the inspiration to begin education on wealth.

Latasha’s achievements have been an inspiration to pay it forward. Alongside her husband, Central Hughes, business owner Latasha gives back to the community in a multitude of ways.

As a child, she joined her family’s church home at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Having a church upbringing created a family-oriented individual who loves helping others in any way possible.

Praise goes to this powerful, strong-minded woman. Being a single parent did not cease her determination to achieve her goals. Latasha’s ventures continue to build as she is the co-owner of LC Hughes Construction and co-founder of C Hughes School of Change.
